In praise of elastic waist band pants....

I love Thanksgiving. It gives me the opportunity to do what I like best in my dotage and that is to pig out on good food surrounded by good company. This year I have much to be thankful for and that includes meeting (via cyberspace) many new, interesting and some downright crazy people. It's been great. I also have my mother and the lovely little Kayla all to myself on this day. It's just joy.
We are having honey smoked turkey, cornbread and giblets dressing, garlic mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, collard greens, broccoli and cauliflower, cranberry relish, flaky biscuits and condiments. Desert will be either sweet potato or pecan pie, whipped cream optional. Simple. Comfort food. I love it and I love it a lot. That is why I will wear my fat guy drawstring pants with the elastic waist. Another thing to be thankful for.
